We've released an academy player, Joe Tomlinson, as he was deemed surplus to requirements.

A day later he was signed by Brighton.

This sums up the ineptitude and incompetence of the people who run our club.

I wouldn't read too much into this. With all the PL teams having dedicated U21 squads now they need to make up the numbers. Two of our youngsters went to Palace and Bournemouth after not being offered pro deals, one of whom wasn't even first choice in his position for our U18s.

JCR still a very effective player at this level.

Where are the ahawkridge rumours coming from. Curtis is usually on the money with the Lincoln stuff

JCR still a very effective player at this level.

Between the halfway line and the final third, then he dithers and dithers and kills attacks.

For such a technically gifted attacker his goals/assists stats are very poor.

Fair dos. Was decent for us before his injury. No doubt he’ll get a good reception when we play!

Did like the bit where Flitcroft says he can distribute the ball well when his instructions were to just to hoof it as soon as possible.

Good signing. He was our best defender but more accurately he was the least bad. Potential to be a very good lower league defender and clearly enjoys working with ‘flitters and futch’ (sequel to Turner and Hooch I believe)

Are you boys as dubious of Brown as I am of Flitcroft still?

Bid for Dennis has been rejected. Only offers so far have been from is and Vale according to the Derbyshire Times

They seem to want more than realistically going to get.

We seem to have diverted towards Ricky Miller now anyway... yay!

Going to be honest I don't see the fuss with him? He's done nothing at the EFL level!

I wouldn't be bothered if we didn't sign Miller, though he did show something towards the end.

Wouldn't mind signing Dennis, but given his comments about us before our game a few months back, and that we're rivals, they'd never sell to us

He was in the pub with Vale fans before our game at field mill. Seems another Gary Roberts type.

He’s got some tough competition, Pearce will always start and we still have Diamond and Murfin on the books.

I wouldn’t want Ricky Miller even if he came for free. Certainly not the sort of player you want in and around your squad and not the sort of player I’d expect Aspin to be looking at.

Tbh, it's the midfield and forward line he needs to worry about, the midfield went AWOL too often last season and didn't contribute, and we still don't have a top league 2 forward at our club

Should this be 18/19 now or a new thread openend.
Anyway 3 new signings at Notts will be announced on Friday 1st June. Apparently all of them are from our “main target” list

We needed another CB though, Diamond will probably leave with him on the transfer list so expect another.

You don’t always need 30 goal a season striker, our problem was midfield not contributing.

According to a Carlisle forum this morning Danny Grainger has been in talks with us. Would be a big step up on Conlan but I have my doubts whether it's true or not.

Very much so on both points, hopefully he's a shrewd transfer.

The midfield last season was the main problem, absolutely. No-one to get stuck in and boss the game was our problem

Personally no, for me this season is a clean slate for Brown. Yes, the end of last season was poor but like Flitcroft at Mansfield he came into the football club not knowing the players and having 10 games to work with. Clearly Brown didn’t think that much of what he was given to work with and failed to get us into the play offs, which was poor and disappointing.

That said, I’m willing to give him a fresh start to mould his own team. Hopefully his Southend promotion form will come to the fore and we can challenge next season. I actually heard our budget has been cut so he’s going to face and uphill battle. I think we’ll finish somewhere similar to the season just finished, which won’t go down well with our fans!!

You're right in that he has to be given a summer to bring in his own players, and of course, you're going to want him and the players to do well next season for the obvious reasons. There is a similar debate on stagsnet.

What is for sure, and I dare say Brown will be in the same boat at your place, is that there won't be any honeymoon or sympathy if things don't start well - there's going to be fans wit long memories who'll be on his back pretty sharpish if things go badly.

Let's hope such a scenario doesn't happen

Yeah totally agree, if both Swindon and Mansfield start the season poorly, it’s going to get ugly. Our fans are notoriously impatient and being in league 2 is already deemed ‘beneath us’.

It’s a case of wait and see as far as I’m concerned.

Looks like we’ll be upping it and going back, as long as no League One teams come in for him then we should be favourites. Would be delighted tbh.

We seem to be moving quickly with three being announced this week as well. The benefits of only having to focus on a couple of positions for once rather than the entire team!

I don’t understand why we’re not in for him. Seems like a perfect replacement for Cook.

Evans went straight over to Woodyard after our game at SB with Mansfield, and you just knew he'd be after him if/when he left Mansfield.

Other than Boeteng from Exeter, Woodyard is the one who’s impressed me the most in the role he plays this season. Big loss for Lincoln?
