Finally some credible Luton rumours (very credible as they come from Sir John Still himself):

- we're on the verge of two new signings, one defender and one "proven" striker - both likely to be done by the end of June
- a third deal on the go which Still calls a "long shot" and is waiting to hear
- it sounds like neither the "proven striker" nor the "long shot" is Craig Mackail-Smith - Still admits we have spoken to him, but he wants to stay as high as possible. Apparently they have agreed to speak later in the window if nothing comes up for him
- talks with QPR over Michael Harriman have stalled for the time being
- we never made an offer to Jack Collison contrary to the rumour
- we offered Ogogo a deal but told him we wanted him as a right back, he wanted to play centre mid

Chris Maxwell of Fleetwood to Cambridge united is now doing the rounds ??

Chris Maxwell was outstanding in his loan spell with us and it probably helped him nail his first choice place at Fleetwood when he got his chance soon after returning. He's L1 standard - Fleetwood Supporters and Players Player of the Year awards last season.

If it wasn't for the Lukey deal, I'd be filing this under "too good to be true" and/or "I'll believe it when I see it," perhaps I should anyway.

There might be a lot of wishful thinking in this one but, if true, it would cover our remaining weak(ish) area. I'm sure he'd improve with a decent settled defence in front of him but I'd rather not have Chris Dunn as first choice - although I might not go as far as Lordjord.

Any team with Chris Dunn as their no1 keeper will not be getting promoted!

Palmer is a young guy that played sporadically in a Mansfield team that no goalscorer in the history of goalscoring could have notched for. A better opinion ought to be sought from Grimsby fans, who at least tried to utilize his skills.

He spent the best part of eighteen months at Field Mill as a second half substitute chasing hopeful punts up the park, helping him lose whatever confidence he might have had.

I'd personally be very wary of dismissing him, like most Stags fans have. He could turn out to be quite decent, or he may not. Either which way, I'd find it an odd signing for Orient, but not one I'd readily chuckle at, as he may come back to bite us on the harris.

Can't really find many of their ales in Mansfield mate (not so sure about over in Notts city?) so it's usually a supermarket purchase for me. Not tried the Atlantic, but have had the pilsner which is excellent.

My inlaws are down in Pompey, where you can get the Doom Bar pretty much everywhere, that's where I got the taste for it and it's top notch. My name on the Stags forum is Doom, so it fitted nicely.

In fairness, I don't usually check out the ale selection and tend to just go for the lagers so maybe i'm talking shit and it's quite common. It's one i'm going to keep an eye out for in future though, seems to be a bit of a 'go-to drink' all of a sudden.

Whenever I saw Palmer he had little service but I think if he was playing in a decent side he'd score a few goals. I always felt like if he was lucky enough to score one he might have the confidence to get another. But he never got the first. Funny run though.
