Can't really find many of their ales in Mansfield mate (not so sure about over in Notts city?) so it's usually a supermarket purchase for me. Not tried the Atlantic, but have had the pilsner which is excellent.

My inlaws are down in Pompey, where you can get the Doom Bar pretty much everywhere, that's where I got the taste for it and it's top notch. My name on the Stags forum is Doom, so it fitted nicely.

I've only had the Atlantic down the south west, the good news is you can get a pint of Doombar in Fat cats on Sunday for two quid.

Doom Bar is the number one selling cask ale in the UK both on draught and in bottles, we ship absolutely tonnes (literally) of it around the country every night. It sells loads in the north but is particularly popular in Wales and the West as you'd expect.

Atlantic is excellent and Cornish Pilsner is one of the best lagers around. Have you tried Wolf Rock?

Wolf rock is yet another pukka beverage, personally I'm a big fan of a lot of the badger beers, tangle foot and golden champion(not glory) are truly tremendous, just never ever get them on tap round this way

Finally some credible Luton rumours (very credible as they come from Sir John Still himself):

- we're on the verge of two new signings, one defender and one "proven" striker - both likely to be done by the end of June. Seen the suggestion of Simeon Jackson, but nothing reliable on that.
- a third deal on the go which Still calls a "long shot" and is waiting to hear.
- it sounds like neither the "proven striker" nor the "long shot" is Craig Mackail-Smith - Still admits we have spoken to him, but he wants to stay as high as possible. Apparently they have agreed to speak later in the window if nothing comes up for him. End of June he's going to give him a ring up again if nothing comes up. On very good money at BHA, so I very much doubt the suggestion of Notts County is very wide of the mark.
- talks with QPR over Michael Harriman have stalled for the time being. Why are QPR playing silly beggars - he's not getting in their team.
- we never made an offer to Jack Collison contrary to the rumour. Not entirely accurate - it was never financially viable, so I'm guessing Peterborough offered him very good money.
- we offered Ogogo a deal but told him we wanted him as a right back, he wanted to play centre mid
Also no further progress on Lee Angol, despite the speculation he's going to move away.

West Side Vinny, aka the most/only reliably ITK Luton guy around, has rubbished the Simeon Jackson link so it won't be him. On the rare occasions WSV speaks up, he's never been wrong.

Got any sources for that Mooney quote or just rumours? Would be an interesting one if true.
Doing the rounds a bit on our forum. Apparently we've offered him a contract. but so have yourselves and Colchester.

Doom Bar is absolutely lovely, plenty of places in and around Mansfield sell it. Loads in Notts too.

I'm too old for the pubs and bars in town these days, so I don't particularly know where sells what, but maybe I'll venture in to the town centre to sample a draught Doom when the missus and kids are looking the other way!

Jason Banton has followed Kyle Dempsey and our chief scout on Twitter so I assume we're signing him.

No we're rumoured to have offered Southends Michael Timlin a contract, he'd be stupid to come here though.

Yeovil have signed Jack Compton apparently.

Yep, Jack Compton signed a 1 year deal. Can't say I know too much about him.

Although this from Ronnie Moore has me a bit worried:
"He has immense ability but I have sat openly and said to him that he needs to speak to a psychologist or a psychiatrist"

He's also followed our chief scout, Akinfenwa and Nile Ranger. Maybe they're all starting a hip-hop dance troupe
It seems like nowadays players should be instructed not to follow people related to the clubs interested in them to avoid situations just like this. Most of our recent signings have been guessed by our fans based on Twitter follows - seems pretty amateur to me.

Classic Ronnie. Loved it the time he got sacked from Rotherham for saying all his players should be shot for losing 5-0 to Chesterfield on Sky.

From Ronnie Moore as well who's obviously a few bricks short of a load himself...

Talented lad by all accounts but knows it apparently . We were rumoured to be in for him so I now hope he's a nutcase

We are not signing Banton. Get over that one straight away.

I think you could, he was on a bit at Plymouth but he's hardly coming off a big season and he's still very much in the potential bracket rather than proven winger (hence why he's in League 2). I'd have him but he's probably just as likely to be an Ishmel Demontagnac type and player as he is a top winger at this level

Hah

I remember a few years ago you lot banging on about degmontagnac (the fourth muskateer) like he was the second coming of Jesus. We were all sat around in the L1 TFF forum rolling our eyes but your crowd was convinced. It was like Rakish Bingham take one.

No we weren't. Allen gave him a 1 year deal and he barely played. Cheers.

Hilarious and possibly worthy of a mention in the tinpot thread due to shear lack of professionalism....

Notts fans haven't reacted in any way other than cynically since 2009, that's why I know. We could sign a bloke who scored 40 in La Liga last season and someone would call it risky because he had a knee operation in 2011 or they'd say 'remember Danny Haynes...' As if that's applicable to everything.

Our fans are ridiculously negative too. We'd sign Messi, the response would be "he's no fucking good defending corners is he?"

You're thinking of someone else, Demontagnac played about eight games and got sent off in one of them for throwing the ball at the ref. Which was, admittedly, ace.

if this is true, we will not sign a better playing than Timlin. Really impressed me when I've seen him, can play in the middle or out wide, technically very nice and crosses nicely with his left...

A good player when he has his head on (which is usually 1 game a month) - has the ability to be the difference in a game.

As mentioned though, has a serious lack of professionalism at times and a bit of a loose cannon. Was left out of the squad for large parts of the season (by more than one manager) due to 'off-field issues'.
