This would have been more accurate with Ride of the Valkyries as backing music.

Wow - that looks like the kind of cheesy recruitment video firms use to try and get someone *in* the door, not when they’ve just hired someone.

You must have pots of cash to be paying both Westley and McGhee - I’m really not convinced by the need for a “Director of Football” at this level, and I’m not just saying that cos we can’t afford one.

One day in to the Westley regime, and the two shortest players in the senior squad are the only senior players playing for the U23's in the county cup tonight (aside from Ruben Bover who is on the fringes anyway).

I fear this isn't a coincidence. Could be a travesty for Mauro Vilhete who is a vital part of the squad and a club legend, and for Fuad Sule who only joined us at the start of the month and made his debut on Saturday.

If this crude nonsense is the road we're going down that's it for us.

Exactly a dof is more for championship and premier league clubs. I'm sure York city have one too, probably one of Martin Gray's mates

Who knows? Our chairman has spun the line that McGhee was only ever coming to the Hive in a DoF role and thar his brief has been to search for a manager but that wasn’t how it was reported at the time.
Unless they made a mistake with McGee and just don't want to Fork out compo. Mind Barnet have a odd way off doing things like Edgar David's who could not be bothered to attend games up north

I'm sure that Graham Westley puts the ability to compile a pumping and motivating recruitment video as one of his strengths on his CV and that he puts a size 16 font bullet point next to it too!

I wonder if Davids is still on the payroll, under the title of "international football consultant" or something?

I know that he's been trying and failing to get an MBA for the past couple of years!

We are back here after a disastrous 2nd half and results elsewhere going generally against us.

Next 3 games are crucial. 2 against teams around us which we now need to win or we could be in big trouble.

I don't think I've mentioned in the last few days that we’re 100% officially royally fooked without a paddle. We’re definitely in that “who can be the least shittest” race. Our chances of survival rests on everyone else’s ineptitude. I don't think we'll get 50 points. We'll be in the bottom two by the end of Feb because our run before then is ridiculous and when we can't beat teams with a 60 min, 3-1 head start then where is the hope.

Could write an essay on why we're in this situation and why we deserve to go down, and also why going down would be good for the club. But tl;dr: bad manager, corrupt owner, failing expensive academy, daft philosophy, board & management never, ever held to account, crap team, child abuse scandal. Fucking mess.

A couple of weeks ago we were slowly sliding into the pit - now we’re straight up falling. A dinosaur of a manager with terrible tactics, a bad mixture of signings and selling any player with ability that we have. Add to that an aging defence that will need replacing soon, a bunch of useless players contracted for next year, 3 points from 27, 4 goals in our last 10 games, a c*** of a chairman who won’t sack his best mate and who continues to make fuckups with regards to the playing side and the running of the club. He won’t let go of his stranglehold of the club unless he gets his £2million back, which will never happen unless we have some serious footballing fortune. But that’s not going to happen because you need to employ the right people in the first place, and so we find ourselves here.

We’ve signed 3 players this month, 2 are fairly unproven and one is a keeper who looks dodgy at best. Our best players have lost all confidence and our squad continues to swell. Even if a new manager comes in, he can’t sign anyone and he’s left with a complete mess of a squad. The whole thing is a Catch 22 and I can’t see a way out of it.

It's ok, Slade says we've just been unlucky in every single game so we're ok.

Anyone would think you were a Barnet fan with a post like that!

Cheer up, you could be watching us relegate ourselves every week. Could be worse.

I actually think we'll be fine now that we have a manager who appears to be putting some effort into the job.

Could be a final day shoot out between us and Grimsby.

Wouldn't it be ironic if we were the ones sending them back down into non league. :bdick:

I always thought Slade was an ok journeyman type but I'm sure he was quoted as saying Sam Kelly had strength and aggression when you signed him off us !! Clearly had lost the plot with that statement

We will be lucky to reach 40 points.

You think we won't pick up 18 points from 17 games? Don't think we'll do that badly - I think we will pick up some wins over time although it won't be pretty.

Think it's better to look at teams around us rather than look at points targets. Now that we look more organised under Westley I think we will overtake some of the teams around us looking at their squads and lack of transfer activity.

I'm not looking at a points target. I'm looking at a team that can't keep a clean sheet and doesn't score more than one goal in a game.

The improvement from McGhee to Westley just means relegation will take a bit longer. Without further improvement then I don't see us winning more than another 4/5 games this season.

Looking at the teams 'around' us doesn't make me more optimistic.
Chesterfield and Forest Green have made several signings and are getting 1.5ppg.
Yeovil have just been given a wad of spending money from the cup so our targets are likely to be Grimsby, Port Vale, Morecambe and Crewe who have 7-13 point head start. We have to win at least 3 in a row while they gain no points, sadly that's too much to expect.

I actually think both FG and Chesterfield will survive, but not by much.

Expecting Barnet to give us a tough game on Saturday. Akinde always scores against us, we've a dodgy record against sides towards the bottom and when you've stats like ours (unbeaten in 8, lost 1 in the last 15 and lost 1 out of 14 games at home) it's obviously going to be a Barnet win - that's how football works

I was thinking the same thing Adam. Barnet will be scrapping for their league existence so it will not be pretty. Possibly similar to the recent Cheltenham game?

And us vs Chesterfield too.
We are looking better but we need to put in a performance for a whole match, not just the first half.

Calling it here now in plenty of time, we are down.

Fenty refuses to sack his mate Slade despite averaging 0.25 points per game over the last 8 games and at the minute we couldn't score in a fucking brothel.

And we've signed nobody in the January window because according to Slade we've just been unlucky.

Lump on us at 33/1 with Bet365, we are fucked.

If we do not get three points from our game at Yeovil tonight or at home to Cheltenham on Saturday I can see us sliding into the obis and challenging for a bottom two slot. One point, or even two from those games will not halt the demise, we need a Win.

We need a win ourselves on Saturday or there is a very real chance we could be the team that falls away in the second half of the season.

We've looked very lethargic in our recent home games and an even remotely ambitious Barnet would have given us a spanking last weekend.

We need to wake up and realise that we're not safe yet and there's still work to do.

If barnet do get relegated i would love to see us have a look at bringing in some of their players. from what i've seen of them they have some very high quality young players. i thought at the start of the year they looked like a better squad than in previous seasons.... shows what i know!

IMO our squad is not bad at all, albeit a mite unbalanced. It's the injuries and the bad managerial decisions that have done for us so far.

Starting to see more and more of our supporters now wishing us to lose just to hurry Slade along in getting the sack so this could be a very bizarre scenario on Saturday when pantomime villains Cheltenham Town come to town, maybe a Danny Wright and Harry Pell double could actually get cheers from the home support!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Danny Wright is suspended I think.
